☆☆☆☆
This is a dystopian novel, the first in a trilogy, set in a world that takes place 100 years from now. Humans have simultaneously destroyed and rebuilt the way we live on earth. After a third world war, everything from flying cars to downloadable knowledge make this story one to remember. Taking place in the year 2117, we observe 18 year old Alex, an orphan with a brain that you couldn’t even begin to comprehend. As the day comes where she graduates 7 years ahead of her peers, she is faced with a choice on what to do next. As the story unfolds it doesn’t take her long to realize that the fate of humankind let alone the entire planet needs her. With the help of her friends will she be able to overcome the obstacles in her path. Well, she will try. They don’t call her a prodigy for nothing.
This story is very fast paced which is good for those that have a limited amount of time to read or are very busy throughout the day. But if your like me then you enjoy having just a tad more back story and development of characters in the books you read. Overall I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. The story line itself was very interesting, I just wish it had not been so rushed in getting to certain parts of the story. I also wished that it explained some of the more key points just a bit more. Because this book is based primarily on science, it was slightly hard to grasp where some of the more, dare I say, mystical elements came into play. The main character Alex was pretty rounded, given the limited glimpses we saw into her life. The supporting characters had just enough development to get their personalities across for the story, but again I wish there was slightly more to them as well as more insight on the different relationship aspects between the characters throughout the continuation of the story.
The story, while being slightly rushed, did have enough interesting plot to keep the momentum going. This kept me involved enough with the story, that I didn’t want to put the book down until I knew the ending. I am hoping when I go to read the next two books that the story line will continue to expand and develop. If your interested in this book you can order the final draft on Amazon, or like me you can also read it on Wattpad. Overall I do recommend as it is a very interesting book, and who knows this could book could be a look at what our future holds.
